Does anyone know where the diving meet schedule
might be posted? I've looked, but haven't found it yet.
I would like to bring my daughters to see it and combine
that with a weekend visit with our niece, who's a
Plebe. Obviously, she won't be able to visit with us
until after PPW, but I'm assuming the diving competitive
season doesn't start until fall.

Any tips on combining the meet and the mid-visit? How
crowded are the meets - do we need advance tickets?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Army/Navy Fans!
I heard a rumor today that Army/Navy single seats went on sale today to
season
ticket holders and called to check it out. A VERY curt voice answered my
query with:
  "August 1st at Ticketmaster."
I then asked when they would be available to midshipmen:
  "August 1st at Ticketmaster."
I took the hint and hung up. I assume August 1st is an "IF" also -- IF there
are any tickets LEFT! I'll double check on that and report back again
further into July. Two years ago, when the Van Gogh exhibition came to
Washington, I was able to get tickets for a large group of people by lining
up at Ticketmaster before it opened one weekday. Will advise later on.....

A note from a parent far away made me understand that I was perhaps unclear
in my mention of purchasing any extra Army/Navy tickets. The "TIcketmaster"
source is available in most larger cities as an OFFICE, usually in a
department store or other host facility. You can also call their 800 number
from ANY phone in the country. I'm sure it's in your phonebook, or mentioned
somewhere on the Entertainment page in your newspaper. Even those of us here
in Annapolis can't just walk into the NAAA office and get them this year!

Navy varsity sports are supported at http://www.navysports.com/.
Look down the left side, and select your favorite. Diving is a
subset of Swimming, so you should select either "Men's Swimming" or
"Women's Swimming." Schedules, results, and rosters are out there as
well, though they have not yet been updated for the 2000-01 season.

I've never been to a Navy swim meet, but at other college meets I've
attended there has been **plenty** of seating, and no charge. On the
other hand, Navy men's gymnastics usually has seating, but a nominal
$3 charge.

Is your niece (the Plebe) the diver? If not, you can visit with her
at the meet. Plebes have a requirement to attend some number of
sporting events per semester. She can fulfill part of her
requirement while visiting with you!

Hi,
Does anyone know about a track meet on July 28? My son says he's running in
it. Wondering where it is and whether parents--especially Plebe
parents--are allowed to attend.

Thanks for your help.

Go Navy--beat everyone in the track meet!

Hi Y'all,

Now that a wrestling coach has been hired, has anyone heard news on a
baseball coach? When we were there I-day, we talked to the AD and he said
that at that time his priority was a wrestling coach, but that he expected
to announce a baseball coach by August 1. It's getting close.

Hi, All!
My season's tickets for the USNA football games came yesterday, so I
assume yours will be delivered later this week, depending on how far away you
live. Included was a very nice brochure on Navy Athletics, a tourist
brochure of Maryland, plus two notices:
A ticket stub from any Navy football game is good at the Visitor Center
Gift Shop by the Monday following the game for a 5% discount for each Navy
touchdown scored, up to 20% off all full-priced merchandise.
On Sunday, August 13th, 2 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium, the U.S.
Women's National Soccer Team will play Russia. Call the Navy Ticket Office
1-800-874-6289 to purchase tickets.
There are five home football games this year:
Temple Sept. 2 Firstie Parents Weekend
        TCU Sept. 30
        Rutgers Oct. 21 Homecoming
        Toledo Oct. 28
        Wake Foreest Nov. 18
Tickets are almost always available through the week of the game, though good
seats may be harder to get for big weekends. You can order tickets by phone
and pick them up when you get here, I believe. The ATHLETIC Ticket Office is
still located in Ricketts Hall, opposite the Visitor Center and near the
seawall. Lots of families prefer to wait until they arrive and then buy
"Hill" tickets, the least expensive. Bring a blanket or a chair and sit on
the hill in the end zone. You can get up and walk around any time you want.
For you newcomers, USNA prides itself on having the best Tailgates in the
nation, and there are literally hundreds of tents set up with food cooking
all day. Come early and watch the march-on and meet other parents from clubs
on the East Coast. Open the back of your car and start your OWN tailgate!
Be SURE to wear your Parent Club ID if you have one, but especially
your red, white and blue ribbon to identify yourselves as a memeber of this
net. It's FUN to put names and faces together after reading each other's
mail all summer!
    Hope to see you there!
