NAVY WINS CRAB POT TOURNAMENT!
After beating Villanova 11-5 on Saturday night to secure an ECHA playoff spot, The 18th ranked Midshipmen faced 17th ranked Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Crab Pot Tournament at Dahlgren Hall. Mercyhurst beat Lehigh by a score of 8-3 to earn their spot in the finals.
Mercyhurst scored first but Navy tied the game with less than a minute to go in the first period.
The Midshipmen came out strong in the second and headed into the final period with a 5-2 lead.
Mercyhurst could not overcome Navy's all around team effort and the game ended 9-3.
Navy's final home game is against the Maryland Terrapins next Sunday 2:00 at Dahlgren.
Congratulations to Coach Rick Randazzo and the Navy Hockey team!

The Navy Hockey team finished the regular season this weekend with wins over Rutgers and Maryland.
Two of the Firsties left their marks on the scoresheets in their regular season finales. Lukin Lain scored a hat trick against Rutgers in the 5-3 victory and Todd Lohstreter did the same against Maryland on Sunday afternoon in a hard fought 4-3 win.
This Friday Navy travels to West Chester for the ECHA Playoffs. It appears that they will play Drexel at 2:00 P.M.
For a complete report on this past weekends games and verification of the playoff schedule please check the Navy Hockey website Monday :

We attended the All Academy gymnastics meet last night here in Southern
California and really enjoyed the meet. Navy has a small team this year, but
had great performances. What is the best is that after the meet, the young
gymnasts all come up to the academy gymnasts & have them sign T-shirts (these
are t-shirts that they are wearing!), programs, posters and just plain old
paper. It was so much fun seeing the Navy gymnasts reach down & sign things!
I think both parties got a kick out it. We do not know that much about
gymnastics, but it's fun to go & support the Navy teams. Most of the
gymnasts came up and thanked up for coming, which is especially nice too.
Met a lot of parents from all other the country who had flown out to see the
team. If you ever get a chance to go out & see Navy sports, you should
really go. You meet the nicest kids and a lot of parents too!

Hey, everyone!

Just wanted to give a little bit of insight into the Army-Navy wrestling
match last night!

There were at least half as many NAVY wrestling fans at the match as Army
fans, but we sure did give them a run for their money. I'm sure many of the
NAVY fans have no voices today.

The match was an edge-of-your seat match from start to finish, but our guys
sure made us proud. Something was left to be said about the officiating, but
scrap that and just say "NAVY won, in spite of the officiating!" It was
great! Even the losing matches were hard fought and the guys had NOTHING to
hang their heads about. They never gave up, they wrestled their hardest,
some with ice after the match.

At the end of the match, when they played first the Army alma mater and then
the Navy Blue and Gold, I stood with tears in my eyes thinking, this can't be
it already, the end of my son's regular season wrestling career at the
Academy. I'm so proud of all of our Midshipmen. Please enjoy every minute
you can of the journey, because it goes at such a high rate of speed.

Well, on to the EIWA's. And another N Star for NAVY!
