My husband and I will be attending our first Army/Navy game this year and
wondered what we out-of-towners do for tailgate fun? There will be plenty of
us from the Texas Gulf Coast Parents' Club so I could pass any info along to
our club at our next meeting. Thanks.

Dear Lyne & XC Parents,

The Xcountry course is on the golf course as you've heard. If you leave the
Academy and take a right-hand turn out of gate 8, you cross the Naval
Academy
Bridge and take that immediate right at the light before going up the hill.
If you're coming down the hill towards the Academy, you'll take a left at
the
light at the bottom of the hill, immediately before the bridge. (I
apologize
that I don't know the names of all these streets).

Then, you follow the winding, slightly hilly road till you come to a fork in
the road. You can take the left fork and once the see the golf course, you
can park on either side of the road near where you see the busses--there
will be
other cars parked around there and sometimes mids to show you where to park.
Or, you can take the right fork in the road, go past the Navy Lodge and
through the gate--with the Marine guard's permission, of course : ), take a
left
and another quick left into a small parking lot and park by a small bldg.

You'll see lots of teams, parents, officials etc. and they'll tell you where
the team is situated so can unload your food (in the past they've been under
a
stand of trees over by the clubhouse) and, of course, they can also tell you
where to stand for the starting of the race.

There are a few times during the race to see the runners, one of them up a
little hill, so bring your sneakers and enjoy!

Lynne & all interested parents -

If you go to

http://www.usna.edu/Logistics/

and click on "2003 Football Plan", you can access a document with a wealth
of information (you need Microsoft Word to open it). This may answer many
of your questions regarding who may go to away games, how travel is
scheduled and whether or not the Mids have liberty after the games.

It's a fun read, even if you aren't planning on catching an away game this
season.

Go Navy!

Good morning all:

I noticed the questions about the Halloween concert and I thought I'd
mention another usna event that weekend...for those of you that like a good
sporting event. :)
The WOMAN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM will be playing their arch rival "ARMY" on
Friday Oct. 31st "Halloween"!!!! When we visit Army they bribe all the
cadets with pizza and the place is filled with cheering fans. It would be
nice to have the same advantage at NAVY. So....bring your friends, family,
USNA supporters, and see the Army/Navy Volleyball game (3rd floor)

  GO NAVY.....BEAT ARMY!!!!!

Subject: Navy-Vandy game and a weekend
Date: Sun, 28 Sep 2003 15:33:57 -0500

Good afternoon to everyone!

We finally got some fall weather here and it is helping us get in the mood
for our football weekend coming up in a few weeks. Since we live so far
from the Yard attending a home football game is an impossiblity, BUT Navy
plays Vanderbilt in Nashville on Oct.11! We have obtained tick ets and our
son is taking a weekend to come home since that is a long weekend. Some
suggested he might try to travel with the team, but he really wanted the
extra time at home.

I know this subject has been touched on before, but I am still trying to get
some plans together and have not gotten much info from my son. It seems
like I have heard that even though he is taking a weekend it is actually
"liberty" and not "leave" therefore different rules are in effect for him.
Can someone clarify this for me, including procedures for attending the
game? I know HE will know this, but I won't get that information until the
last minute and we are trying to make some plans for folks that are coming
from different directions that weekend.

We are enjoying our first Fall weather here in North Alabama, hope it stays
for at least another couple of weeks!

Thanks!
