To all...

There is never a good time to do this. It is necessary for List Privacy and
overall security. Effective immediately, the User Name and Password have
been changed to...

User Name: brigade
Password: liberty (all lowercase)

This works for the Chat Room, our Archives and for the New Classified Ads.

To all...

With my extreme apologies, I find that it is again necessary to change the
passwords used to access the Archives, Chat Room and Classified
Advertisement sections of our web site.

We have been informed that a member has been using email addresses obtained
from messages sent to our list for the private email promotion of that
member's business. Besides being a violation of our Rules of Operation and
a violation of YOUR privacy, this is SPAM and is an unlawful act under
current Federal Communications Commission regulations.

The member has been removed from USNA-Net and will not be granted access in
the future. Nonetheless, this necessitates changing our password.

The new password is...

USER NAME: brigade
PASSWORD: trident (all lowercase)

Again, my apologies to one and all for the inconvenience.

To all...

Now that things have settled down and the AC year is in full swing, I
thought it might be time to explain more fully the Role of Moderator to your
lists.

As Moderators, Sandi and I enforce the rules, sign up new members, make
address changes, provide web site content... stuff like that. THAT, you
already knew.

What you probably don't know (or haven't thought of) is that we can also be
of invaluable assistance to our members in a much more serious way.

I know that many of you have questions that are either TOO PERSONAL or TOO
EMBARRASSING to post to our lists from your own email address, especially
since every message you post carries your signature line with your Mid's
name, your name and your email address at the bottom.

Sandi and I are here to help and not just act as hall monitors or the "Net
Police." We sincerely feel it is our responsibility to act as
intermediaries when the need arises. This might be especially comforting
when the situation may be potentially embarrassing or problematic to you or
your Mid.

This is where we can really HELP. If you send that problem question or
request for advice to Sandi or me PRIVATELY at
owner-usna-famliy@navy-usna.org or owner-usna-plebe@navy-usna.org, we can
remove your personal information and forward it to the proper list,
anonymously. The membership can then send their advice or helpful
information to the list OR to us (asking that their message be forwarded to
you) without anyone EVER knowing who the originator of the question or
request was. We can even send private answers back to you giving the
responder the same anonymity if they so desire.

We have proven to our members on many occasions that we can be trusted to
handle delicate situations with complete and total privacy. We always
respect our members' needs for privacy and anonymity.

We're not volunteering to solve your problems for you but we can bring your
problem to the attention of our list members without you having to identify
yourself or your Mid. With the combined knowledge and experience of almost
1,500 member families, there are answers out there for just about
everything.

Let us help. That's what the lists are for. And... That's what your
Moderators are really good at doing for the membership... Helping parents
help other parents.

To all...

This is more than just a reminder.

Violators of our Rule against Commercial Content will be permanently removed
from our lists.

THIS INCLUDES REQUESTS FOR TICKETS TO THE ARMY/NAVY GAME!

This is exactly what the Classified Ads were created for. In case you
"forgot," reread the Rules of Operation. Rule #7 - No Commercial Content
says...

"NO Football/USNA Sports ticket sales or exchanges are allowed to be
included in a message to our Listservers. They must be placed in the
Classified Ads Web Page instead."

To all...

Soon, if you haven't already received it, you will get a message from Bob
Magruder of WP.Org concerning the West Point Association of Graduates and
nomination of a Distinguished "USMA" (West Point) Graduate.

Please ignore this message in its entirety.

It was mistakenly sent to WP.Org's master list without filtering out the
USNA-Net names that are part of their Corps List.

As most of you are aware, WP.Org is our generous sponsor group through which
we are able to provide our USNA-Net listservers and upon whose computers in
Austin, Texas, we have our USNA-Net web site hosted.

More about WP.Org and such, later this weekend. For now, please ignore this
message that was sent to the Navy side of this organization in error.

Thanks in advance,
