To all...

A couple of things need to be discussed in light of recent events.

RE: parentadvice@hotmail.com

What more can I say than I have already said about this bucket of bilge
water? The Mystery Member is sending out admonishments to our members for
things in their postings to our lists. This person purports to be a Trey
Lapore, a member of our lists and a member of the USNA Faculty. THIS IS A
LIE! We do not have a "Trey Lapore" as a member of our list! This person
is an impostor, hiding behind a Hotmail address to protect his/her true
identity.

The advice given is to be IGNORED! parentadvice@hotmail.com is operating
in direct violation of our Rules of Operation which state...

"9.)Misuse and Forbidden Content
No member is to EVER send a message reprimanding another member for a rules
violation. Instead, email your Moderator privately and allow him/her to
deal with the problem."

Sandi and I are working toward a speedy resolution to this problem but in
the meantime, IF you do something wrong Sandi or I will tell you about it -
quickly and privately. Unless you hear from us about one of your postings,
you are not doing anything wrong. IGNORE THIS IDIOT !!!

To our AOL members...
AOL Version 6.0 -

The latest version of AOL's email program does NOT permit the selection of
Plain Text as an option for sending email. It will only send in Rich Text
Format (HTML) which is prohibited by our Rules of Operation. (See our web
site's FAQs for details and a full explanation.)

Therefore we are advising all of our AOL members to NOT upgrade to the new
Version 6.0 of AOL until there is a fix in place which allows the
transmission of email in Plain Text. In the meantime, you should be aware
of the fact that IF YOU UPGRADE to Version 6.0 you will effectively be
banned from posting to our lists. RTF is still very much against our rules.
WP.Org has implemented the following. First offense = a warning to the
offending member. Second offense in 30 days = the offender will be
restricted to "Listen Only" mode for a month - They will receive all
messages but will not be able to post messages of their own. A third
offense = complete removal from all of our lists.

As your Moderators, Sandi and I have some latitude in handing out
punishments for sending in RTF but you, as members of our lists, must
realize the seriousness of this situation and do everything in your power to
insure that each and every one of your postings comes to our lists in Plain
Text. If you have already upgraded to 6.0, please locate a copy of Version
5.0 and replace your V6 with it as soon as possible.

Hope this helps...

To All...

It seems a member has an auto responder which contains a virus attachment.
It is being sent to those who post to the lists.

It will come from Elsa Clark and will have an attachment called:
"midsong.exe"

DO NOT OPEN THIS ATTACHMENT!!

Delete it immediately.

This member has been removed from the lists to avoid further problems.

Mike

To all...

30-28! What a great set of numbers! Way to go Navy!

OK. We won the big game and everyone can breath easy for the next twelve
months. We have bragging rights for another whole year. But now, it's back
to business.

Sandi and I relaxed our Rule on Sports Talk about the A/N game being kept
strictly on USNA-Sports during the weeks preceding the game due to the
overwhelming general interest in everything that precedes the event.

Now that it is over and you've all had a chance to blow your collective
horns about how great it was and what a wonderful time you had at the game,
it's time to reinstate our Rule about posting to the correct lists.

PLEASE KEEP SPORTS RELATED DISCUSSIONS ON USNA-SPORTS.

Talk about the BIG game or anything related to ANY sports topic does not
belong on USNA-Family or USNA-Plebe. It all belongs on USNA-Sports. This
includes tailgating, pay-offs on A/N bets, related hi-jinx and follow-ups on
anything related to any sports event.

FYI... See our Web Site's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for detailed
explanations of how and when to send email to which lists. Look under EMAIL
in the left hand column. And In case you haven't read them for a long time,
here is an excerpt from our Rules of Operation -

---QUOTE---
8.) Use the Correct Email Address

- Send your Plebe related messages to usna-plebe@navy-usna.org if they
involve Plebe issues. Don't impose on the entire USNA-Net membership with
Plebe related postings.

- Send your Sports related messages to usna-sports@navy-usna.org if they
involve anything about Navy Sports. NO Sports related messages are to be
sent to any other lists except for Ticket Exchange messages or messages
about directions to or accommodations at a Navy Sports event. All
discussions about Tailgating, Road Trips, etc. are restricted to
USNA-Sports.

- Personal e-mail responses must be sent directly to an individual member's
email address. Our Lists are not "chat rooms!" All messages sent to a List
must be of interest to most members of the List. Refer to Rule #1.

- NEVER send the same message to more than one List.
---END QUOTE---

Thanks for your continued cooperation.

Go Navy - Beat Army!
