To all,

As we prepare for the arrival of our Mids in just a few days for Christmas
Leave, please remember a couple of things...

1) REMOTE COMPUTER ACCESS - - If your Mid will want to access his grades
&/or Email account while on Leave, he/she MUST make some arrangement to do
this remotely BEFORE they leave the Yard. It cannot be accomplished from
outside their network system if it has not been set up in advance. So,
remind your Mid to find out what to do and get it done BEFORE they head off
for friendlier shores this Christmas.

2.) MEDICAL / DENTAL NEEDS WHILE ON LEAVE - - Just because we all forget
important papers when we rush off on vacation, we have, again this year,
posted the "Official" instructions for what to do IF your Mid needs
emergency Medical or Dental attention while on Leave. You'll find it on our
Web Site in the column of references on the Right Side of the Main Page.
Hopefully, none of our Mids will need this info but it's there, complete
with TOLL FREE TELEPHONE number to call if you need help. with Tri-care.

Enjoy your Holidays,

To all,

Just received this and thought you might be interested in catching the
special program on ESPN on Friday about Army/Navy. M Zets
-----------------------------------------------------

"The Season," ESPN's new series that takes viewers closer to athletes than
ever before, will present an hour-long special on one of college football's
most historic and traditional rivalries - Army vs. Navy, played this year
under unusual circumstances. "The Season: Army - Navy" will be aired
Friday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET. The show will look at both team's
preparations for the ultimate game on their schedule, with emphasis on the
impact of the ongoing military activities in the wake of the September
11terrorist attacks.

This year's Army - Navy game in Philadelphia- the 102nd in the series - was
the first time the contest had been played during wartime since the Vietnam
era. Therefore, in addition to the usual behind-the-scenes access which
generally serves as the basis for "The Season", this program will also
investigate storylines related to today's headlines. Players and coaches
will give their personal reactions to the events of September 11. The show
also will include interviews with players who know within months they will
join their colleagues overseas and with those who played in this storied
rivalry during previous times of war.

The Season: Army - Navy is te sixth project under The Season franchise for
ESPN's Original Entertainment unit (EOE), and will be re-aired onESPN2
Friday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m.

Subject: usna-net sulfnbk.exe Warning is a HOAX!

Recently a member of our service was duped into thinking that a message they
received from a friend was a legitimate warning about a V1RUS that infects
Windows Computers and sent the message to everyone in their address book.
The message told you to look for a file called 'sulfnbk.exe' and if you find
it on your computer, you were to delete it.

DON'T DO THIS !!!! Deleting this file will HARM your otherwise uninfected
computer!

The message is a HOAX. The file, 'sulfnbk.exe' is a real windows file and
deleting it will damage you computer's ability to read and write long file
names.

DO NOT DELETE this legitimate Windows File!!!

This is yet another reason we forbid all V1RUS warnings on our lists. If
you receive a notification of a possible V1RUS, check with your moderator
BEFORE you do anything! Believing a hoax message like this one and deleting
a file which is needed for the proper operation of your computer is worse
than contacting an actual V1RUS. It dupes YOU into deleting needed files
and causing harm to your OWN computer.

If you want to check on whether a V1RUS warning is REAL or is a HOAX, go to
our web site and click on the Site Index - then click on V1RUS and you will
be presented with a couple of links to REAL and HOAX verification sites.
Don't trust your computer's safety to someone who is just as computer
illiterate as you might be. Check it out BEFORE you do anything.

Again, The message about 'sulfnbk.exe' is a HOAX ! If you delete this
file, you computer will no longer be able to distinguish between files with
the same first eight letters and will trash a whole lot of real computer
files on your computer. BUT ONLY IF you delete 'sulfnbk.exe'.

To all USNA-Net Members...

V1RUSES ARE FLOATING AROUND AGAIN !
Just a note to say that we have a few more members who are infected with
various V1RUSES and you should be careful with incoming mail. DO NOT OPEN
ATTACHMENTS, even from friends, if the attachment ends in .pif or .scr or
.bat.

We have received several attempts by infected members to send the V1RUSES to
our lists. Of course, none of these pass through our filters, so you can't
get infected from our lists but we wanted to remind you that messages which
come to you directly from other members with whom you have corresponded
directly may be infected and you should be wary of any attachments. Period.

A great last minute gift idea for the family would be Anti-Virus Software
for every computer in your household. You can also get FREE AV software
from the internet by going to ...
http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_downl.html and downloading the FREE Edition.

CLASSIFIED ADS ARE UP-TO-DATE !
It took some time but the Classified Ads are up-to-date again. We got a
little behind with the maintenance following the Army-Navy Game because I
ended up staying a little longer in Philly than we originally planned.
Cardiologists are really funny about releasing a patient after only a couple
of days in CICU. I guess I really did have an MI just before kickoff. That
must be why they did two catheterizations and placed a stint during the
second one.

Anyway, the Classified Ads have had all of the old A/N stuff removed and are
back to looking normal again. A special thanks to all who used them over
the past months. They have been enormously helpful and a huge success with
things like Tickets and Ride Shares, not to mention selling everything from
a Condo to several cars this past fall. If you have something, anything, of
your own to advertise for sale, put an ad in the Classifieds.

And just remember... The Classified Ads are only as good as those members
who read them regularly. (So that you can enter without having to ask
again, your User Name and Password are reprinted at the bottom of this
message for your convenience.)

ON-LINE STORE IS HUGE SUCCESS !
We've heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone who has shopped at our
On-Line Store. (Go to www.USNA-Net.org and Click on the On-Line Store
Graphic in the upper right of the main page.) The USNA-Mom Pins and the
Blue Star Service Pennants have received nothing but the highest praise for
quality and value. If you haven't been to the Store, now is the time to
visit. We must warn you that we can't promise shipment in time for
Christmas anymore but ALL Pin Orders will ship the same day the order is
received. The Pennant delivery will vary depending on availability out of
inventory. We sold so many of them so quickly that we've had to reorder
twice since we first began offering them only a month ago.

Thanks to all who participated. After its initial success, we intend to
keep the store open indefinitely and will be adding other items of special
interest as they become available.

WE HOST PARENTS' CLUB WEBSITES FOR FREE !
We just wanted to remind all of you that your Club's web site may be hosted
on our new server at no charge to your Club - not now - not ever! We
currently host a dozen club web sites (that's more than 1 in 3 of the 30
clubs who have web sites) and are adding two new ones as this is being
written. We will gladly set up your club with its own Domain Name
(www.YourClubName.org) and host the web site for FREE, all through the
generosity of our membership. Just write to us and let us help you. No
Strings attached.

LASTLY...
To all of our friends and fellow USNA Parents, Sandi and I wish to express
our deepest and most sincere wishes to all of our members for a Happy
Holiday. May each of you find love and joy with family and friends, now and
throughout the coming year.

We also wish to thank each and every one of our members for their continued
support as we begin our fourth year as Moderators for these USNA-Net lists.
This entire organization would not exist if it were not for our dedicated
members who have stuck through it all to Mentor other parents since our
inception in June of '98. Thanks to one and all.

Go Navy - Beat Army!
