A special message from your Moderators...

With only a few games left on this year's Football schedule, we thought we'd
remind all of our members that we have a lot of members looking For and
wanting to Sell tickets to the remaining games in our Classified Ads at
www.USNA.org.

Since our Rules of Operation prohibit offering anything For Sale or asking
for anything Wanted in messages to our lists, the Classified Ads have become
a very effective means for members to advertise their "stuff." And the ads
really do work!

The best part of our Classified Ads is that they stick around. While a
message posted to a mailing list may immediately reach a few more people, if
you're like most people, you either skip the message immediately because you
see that it's an advertisement or you read it and delete it because you have
no use for that message today. Then, a week later, you want that special
"something" and can't find the information.

Well, our Classified Ads will still have the information available when YOU
want it.

We have Tickets! Boy, do we have Tickets!!! Wanted and For Sale.

There are Homes to Rent, B&B's run by members for Commissioning Week;
Parents' Club Fundraising items, Jewelry, Diploma Frames; even a few cars
for sale. And let's not forget about Blue Star Pennants, especially on
Veterans' Day.

You'll even find an Ad for USNA MOM pins that are available exclusively from
USNA-Net.

Why not look through the Ads today? Even if you're not in the market for
anything today, take a peek. Do a little window shopping and check out the
bargains. Who knows? Maybe there is an ad desperately looking for
something that YOU have laying around. Or something you've been looking for
for ages. You'll never know unless you look in our Classified Ads.

And most importantly, as those Army/Navy Tickets start arriving, if you have
extras or need a few more, look to our USNA-Net Classified Ads for help. I
guarantee, there will be dozens FOR SALE in the coming weeks. But the ads
never last long. So don't just visit once and forget about it. If you're
in the market for something, come back often. Many ads are only posted for
less than a day. They go up. The item sells and the ads disappear.
Sometimes you have to be quick!!!

Remember too, that the Classified Ads may only be posted BY MEMBERS but
everyone in the whole wide world can read them. And a whole lot of people
visit the Classified Ads every day. Best of all, advertising in our
Classified Ads is free to members and not available to any non-members.

And Dads... What better Holiday Gift than a USNA MOM Cloisonne Pin for that
special mom in the family? Gift boxed and ready for giving. Find it in the
Classifieds.

Go Navy... Beat army!

RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red
every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be
called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our
love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not
organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on
TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize
that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing
solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this
Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home,
sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who support
our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday
a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every
one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances,
co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is
covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is
on their side more than ever, certainly mo re than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things
better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers. Let's get the
word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear some thing
red every Friday.

A special message from your Moderators...

Go Navy!!

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk announced
today that the Naval Academy has accepted an invitation to play in the
inaugural San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Thursday, December
22 at 7:30 p.m. (PST) at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California against a
Mountain West opponent.

The game will be televised by ESPN2. The bid also came with a bonus as the
Mids will have the opportunity to play in the Poinsettia Bowl in 2008, 2009
or 2010 if Navy is bowl eligible (Navy can pick the year).

"Blue sky, 72 degrees, palm trees and sunshine in December works for us,"
said Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk. "A beautiful
setting in a Navy city in one of the finest football venues in the country
has everyone excited. We have had discussions with the Poinsettia Bowl
executives for quite a while and their attention to detail and enthusiasm
for our team and fans leads one to believe that this will be our finest bowl
experience yet. Three bowl games in a row is historic for the Academy and
our congratulations to Coach Johnson, his staff and our players for
reaffirming that Navy is one of the finest football programs in the nation.

Let's beat Army first, then take on the Mountain West for a fantastic finish
to a historic season."

"What better way to kick off San Diego's newest bowl game than to have the
United States Naval Academy as one of the teams," said Poinsettia Bowl
President Doug Sawyer. "We couldn't be happier that the Naval Academy has
accepted our invitation."

"What better way to kick off a new bowl game in San Diego than to have Navy
play in it," said Poinsettia Bowl Chairman Doug Sawyer. "The Naval Academy
has one of the most tradition-rich college football programs in the country,
and we're so pleased the Midshipmen will be bringing their traditions and
exciting football team to our community."

"I'm excited the team has achieved one of their goals, to have a chance to
go to a bowl game, and I'm excited to be going to San Diego," said Navy head
coach Paul Johnson. "I was lucky enough when I coached in Hawaii to play
there in the Holiday Bowl. It's a great city and I'm sure the kids will
have a great time. We are excited about it. We will talk about it today
and then put it on the back burner. After today we won't mention it again
until after the Army-Navy game. It's good to get it out of the way now.
There's no question where our focus needs to be and will be."

The bowl bid is a landmark achievement for the football program as it marks
the first time in school history that Navy has gone to three-straight bowl
games. Navy can achieve another first by beating Army on Dec. 3 (2:30 p.m.,
CBS) and winning the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy for a third consecutive
year.

Tickets are on sale now at www.navysports.com(.) Tickets can also be
purchased by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY or at the Ricketts Hall Box Office.
Tickets are $45 for club seats and $35 for field seats. Fans not able to
attend the game can purchase tickets to send a Midshipman for $35.

"We strongly encourage Navy fans to buy their bowl tickets from the Athletic
Association. Our goal is 20,000 tickets sold so it is very important for
this year and for future bowl games that your purchase counts towards our
allotment. If you can't make it to the game we ask that Navy fans buy two
tickets for our midshipmen to attend the game. The donation is 100 percent
tax deductible."

A special message from your Moderators...

Ever wonder how so many people get your email address and use it to send you
Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE) or what is commonly referred to as SPAM?

Well, folk. Blame your best friends for most of it. Ever get a message
which starts out like this???

"Your friend, Jane Smith, sent you this..."

Well, you've just been e-fragged. By supplying your email address to a
third party so that company could send you some notification or news article
or postcard, they just gave your email address to an organization which may
or may not keep it private.

Many third parties routinely buy and sell email lists and any email address
which is supplied to them automatically goes into the next compilation of a
list of addresses which they sell over and over again. Even those places
that swear that they won't divulge your information, do it all the time.
Getting on the wrong list can instantly bring tons of daily offers for all
sorts of things you don't want. It's the junk mail of the internet.

Do your friends a favor and DON'T give their email addresses to news
services or postcard services or ANY third party for any reason.

What if you're already getting too much spam? Change your email address.
Most Internet Service Providers will do it for free. But for goodness sake,
DON'T give your new address to one of those "email address change
notification" places. All they do is grab your address (and the address of
EVERYONE in your address book) and start the process all over again -
selling all those email addresses to spammers all over the world.

If you must tell people what your new address is, send them a private email
and put all their names in the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) slot. That way they
will all get your message and none of them will get the addresses of the
other recipients. It's a great way to send email to lots of people without
sharing all their addresses with each other.

Want to send an e-postcard to someone and NOT risk giving our your email
address or that of a friend or family member? Use the postcard service on
USNA-Net at www.USNA.org. Just click on the Postcard link and send away.
Like our mailing lists, the information you share with USNA-Net really is
kept totally confidential at all times.

One last thing... Never reply to spam. Never click on their "Unsubscribe"
links or ask them to remove you from their mailing lists. Replying to them
just confirms that your email address is still a real, active address.
Those are worth a whole lot more than just plain ol' addresses.

Do spam filters work? Yes, but they are a lot of trouble to set up and
teach what is good email and what isn't. In the meantime, you risk not
getting real and sometimes very important email that the filters think is
spam and throw away for you without telling you.

Stay safe. Keep all email addresses private as much as possible. Here at
USNA-Net, we do.

Go Navy - Beat army!!!!
