Tailgate Game Craze Hits 22nd Company
USNA - Annapolis MD 10/21/05
The latest indoor/outdoor sporting event has taken hold of 22nd Co. with Tournament Brackets being formed for the title of USNA Corn Hole Champion for the 2005 Football Tailgate Season. The New N-Star Corn Hole Boards were provided by Kim Shearer, Pataskala, Ohio for her son, Matt ('07), in 22nd Company.
The game is played to 21 points with the 2' x 4' boards placed with their holes 33' apart and legs lifting the back edge of the board 12" from the ground. The holes are 6" in Diameter and the bags are 6" square with 1 pound of dried corn kernals in each bag. Scoring: 1 point for a bag "On the Board," 2 points for "Closest to the Hole,"and 3 points for a "Holer." Teams alternate turns tossing four bags per team per round at the opposite board (as in shuffleboard, ring toss or horseshoes) until all eight bags have been tossed and the score for that round is totaled. The first team to reach 21 points at the end of a round, wins. The alternating tosses by team members allows opponents to displace a bag of an opponent during the round just as in shuffleboard.
