Q: Why can't I ask for Favors of other List Members? A: - Our lists are for Advice and Support of fellow USNA Parents. The lists are not to be used to impose your needs upon other members by asking for favors of any kind. Our members, like yourself, are kind, decent people with the same concerns as you have but to ask over 3,000 strangers for a personal favor for yourself or your Midshipman, is a major abuse of our system.
Your little favor may not seem like a big deal but when you multiply that request by all of our members, the numbers can be staggering. If every member of our lists asked for just one favor each SEMISTER, every member in our lists would have SIXTEEN of them in their mailboxes every day, all year long, and our server would have to send out an additional 18 MILLION email messages in a year's time. Our members would soon tire of all of these requests and drop out of the system. Without members to share Advice and Support our Navy Family Network would collapse. Remember too, that as we sit at our computers in the comfort of our homes, it is very easy to think of our Navy Family Network as "Family," when in fact, we are really a very large group of almost total strangers. Under other circumstances, would you ever ask a total stranger to provide a ride for your teenage college student? It's not a good idea on our lists, either. Hence, our Rules of Operation prohibit asking any favors on our lists. |
