Personalized USNA Cursors !!!

Want to make your cursors more USNA???   I created the following two images and love the way they look on my computer screen.  They can be used to replace the generic cursors that pop up to indicate "busy" and "working in background" on your computer:

The cover is self explanitory, the hourglass has classic USNA blue and gold colors.

The first thing you will need to do is download the zip file provided below.   It contains the two animated cursors. In Windows operating systems the cursors must be in either a *.cur or an *.ani file, so trying to simply copy the samples that you see above, which are animated gif's, will not work.

Click HERE to download the zip file which contains the two images.

Open the Zip file and save the two images in your Windows Cursor folder.   You will find this by browsing (in your C Drive) to the "Windows" folder, then to "Cursors," which is a folder in your "Windows" folder.

But, how do you change your cursors?

It's easy, really!

  • Click onto "Start" at the bottom left side of your screen.
  • Choose "Settings" then "Control Panel" then double click on the Mouse icon.
  • Choose the Pointers tab. A window will open that shows all of the various cursors that your program uses. Look for "Working in Background" and click on it.   It will now be highlighted. Now, look for the "Browse" button and click onto it.  You should now be in your cursor directory.
  • Go to the image named "USNAHourglass.ani" - highlight it and then click "Open."   You will see it has replaced the former cursor.   Hit "Apply."
  • Now, go to the "Busy" cursor and repeat this procedure, this time, choosing the "USNACover.ani" image.  Click "Open" then "Apply"
  • Once you have made your selections, click the "Okay" button.

You're done!  See how easy that was!

Now you have a truly USNA compatible computer!!!
