The parents and relatives of U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen now have a great new way to communicate over Internet! USNA-NET is a Listserver which automatically stores and forwards email messages between members. It is primarily intended for the parents of Midshipmen, although others with an interest in NAVY, such as Family Members of Midshipmen, USNA Graduates, USNA Sponsors Parents and USNA Staff, are also welcome. The best part is that it's FREE!
Now you can send an email to all of the other members of the list with a single click of your mouse without leaving the comfort and security of your home. You can get information on what's happening at the Yard; Share your experiences with others about what it means to be a Navy Parent; Offer advice and support to those that are new to our unique community; Or ask questions of parents whose sons and daughters have gone through it all before. The Listserver brings together parents and relatives from across the country without long distance telephone bills and with total privacy for its members. You can write daily or just read the messages that others share. Your level of participation is always your choice.
USNA-Net is currently comprised of the following Listservers...
A Listserver is basically an email re-mailing service. Operation is incredibly simple. A member sends an email message to a special email address (actually, a UNIX based computer located at our Server Farm in Dulles, VA) and it is re-transmitted by that computer to all members on the list. There are some restrictions on what material can be sent, but none which hamper use within the constraints presented in the Mission Statement.
USNA-NET started in June 1998 and since that time its membership has grown steadily. There is no expense to you unless your Internet Provider charges for e-mail. In that case, you may want to subscribe to the Digest Version in order to get multiple Listserver messages in a single e-mail.
