Creating Outlook Express Stationary

If you use Outlook Express for your email program, here is how you can create your own personal email stationary. It's easy and it's fun!

  1. Open your Outlook Express program
  2. Click onto "Message" at the top of the page.
  3. Move your mouse to "New Message Using" and click onto "Select Stationary..."

  4. A Select Stationary dialogue box will open - click onto the "Create New..." box from the bottom row.

  5. Stationary Setup Wizard will open. Click "next" and you can begin...
  6. Take a look at the following image... there are four areas (numbered) that need to be addressed.

First - #1 - you need to browse to where you saved your background image. Next - #2 - since all of the USNA background images are side bordered backgrounds, you need to set to "top" "left" and "vertically" ... You will see the results in the preview window. Next - #3 - click onto the "color" box and set the background color for white. Last - #4 - click onto "next."
  7. The "Font" window is next. You can click on the down arrow in the font box and set the font to whatever you wish. Just remember that the person who your email is going to must have the same font that you are using in THEIR computer for them to see it. Generally you want to stick with Arial, Comic Sans, Courier or New Times Roman - one of the basic fonts that every computer has. Set the color and the size of the font here, too, then click onto "next."
  8. In this window you set your margins. This is very important - as you can see in the preview window. As you set the top and side margins - you will see where the text will appear - making this an easy step. You can insert any number - you do not have to use the programed numbers. When done ... click onto the "next" button.
  9. On this page, you name your stationary. You must name it and if there is a stationary already in your stationary file with the name you pick, you will not be permitted to use it - and will have to choose another name.Once you have named your stationary, click onto the "next" button.
  10. You will be back to the "Select Stationary" window that you began with - but this time, your stationary will be in the preview box and the stationary's name will be in the File Name box. Just click onto "OK" and your email will open with the stationary. Just put in the address, and type your email as you normally would.

  11. Anytime you want to use your own special stationay, just click onto Message (steps 2 and 3) and this time, once you are on the stationary page - click onto the name of your stationary in the box of listed starionaries - then click "OK". I have a ton of email stationaries - I even have folders in mine - your box, if you have never "created or saved any email stationaries, will look more like this one:

That's it - and it's much easier than the number of steps indicate! You can also insert any of the "coordinating" graphics into your email that are on each of the four graphics background pages on the "USNA Graphics and Backgrounds" page. Just remember to save them. You might want to create a folder in your harddrive and name it USNA Images, or just "My Graphics" !! Then, any time you see an image you want to save - just right click and save the image!
