This miniature pin is traditionally given to the Firstie by plebes in the company when Service Selection is announced.

This is the way Sandi wears her son's SWO Pin.  She added the Red, White and Blue Ribbons when he was deployed to the Persian Gulf, but still wears them with the pin whenever she puts it on.
